About us & the school

We (a group of 5 young people from the northern countries) started prepering this conference last summer, when Marie Boa, Nonu Almeida and Mathias Bolt Lesniak came to Iceland in july 2007, to meet Outi Kuosmanen and Salbjörg Ýr Guðjónsdóttir who live here.

We went walking Fimmvörðuáls (the path we also will walk with all of you), went horsebackriding, slept in tents, bathed in natural hot springs and more.

We wanted to make this conference not only about the importance of nature and human beings but also be able to let you experience the extremely beautiful nature here in Iceland. Therefore half of the day is lecture, workshops etc. And the other half of the day we drive in busses to different places.

The conference takes place at: Waldorfskólinn í Lækjarbotnum

An indepentent school, where the pedagocical work is based on Rudolf Steiners Waldorf education. The school was founded in 1990, and today it has 62 pupils in the age 6 to 16. A Waldorf kindergarden is situated in the same place, Waldorfleikskólinn Ylur, and it has 18 children age 1½ to 5 years old. The school and kindergarden are situated in a valley surrounded by high hills and lava fields and in daily school life nature and the powerful Icelandic weather play a big role. Handicrafts and arts like singing, acting a.s.o. also have a big part in the work. Since it is very important to develope all sides of the human being.
